The brake regulator controlled by the load of a vehicle uses a fluidic mechanism which acts on a first piston capable of translatory movement in a bore formed in the body of the regulator. The first piston being provided with a push rod is capable of cooperating with one end of a second piston forming part of a valve which is open in the rest position. Mechanisms are provided for maintaining, at rest, a given distance between the end of the second piston and the push rod, the given distance being such that the end of the second piston and the push rod do not come into contact until just before the closure of the valve. Preferably, the push rod is, at rest, in axial abutment against a stationary part of the body, the second piston being returned to rest by a spring. Brake Regulating Apparatus for an Elevator Car An elevator brake regulating apparatus includes brake actuators, a source of pressured fluid and a brake regulating control connected between the actuators and the fluid source. A fastening housing is attached to a carrier frame of a elevator car and has recesses for retaining guides of a brake shoe with elastic pads to provide vertical displacement of the guides under braking. The brake shoe has brake pads for engaging running surfaces of a guide rail. A brake sensor in each brake pad monitors the condition of the brake pad and signals the control to apply pressured fluid to actuate the corresponding brake actuator. Other sensors for speed, acceleration and retardation of the elevator car are connected to the control for selectively applied the pressured fluid to regulate the braking force on the elevator car.
