This car looks like the
Lotus Esprit but it's the French
Venturi Atlantique 300 from 1995. A two-seater with an interior of very great luxury. For the max power the V6 engine is equiped with 2 turbocompressors. The Atlantique arrived with a Twin Turbo V6 developing over 300 bhp making it good for 175mph. Venturi have a reputation for finely crafted interiors and the 300 is no exception with high quality leather and wood finishing used throughout the well designed cabin. Venturi also offer the race bred 400GT for those with fast road/track day aspirations. Compact, by the standards of mid-engined supercars, the Atlantique has elegant, simple lines which from many angles have a strong hint of
Ferrari F355 about them. Unlike the Ferrari, though, the Atlantique's styling doesn't arrest your gaze when you catch a glimpse of it from a distance. Leave price to one side, check out the spec of the two cars (Lotus verses Venturi) and you start to wonder if this is a fair comparison. The Lotus is powered by an up-to-the-minute 3.5-litre V8, while the Venturi makes do with an oldish 3.0-litre V6 borrowed from the
Renault Alpine A610. The Lotus has two turbochargers, four camshafts, four valves per cylinder, an intercooler and a chargecooler. In comparison the french car Venturi has a single turbo, two camshafts, two valves per cylinder and an intercooler and makes do with 281bhp at 5300rpm, though it does rustle up a thumping 309lb ft of torque at a highly desirable 2500rpm.
