The
Reliant Robin being a three-wheeler, can be driven on either a motorcycle or car licence in the United Kingdom, and can be registered and insured as a motorcycle at considerable savings over a conventional car. The single wheel in the front steered, while the engine (also in the front) drove the rear axle.
Reliant produced a new and totally revamped Robin featuring a new fibreglass body, and increased engine power. The final Special Edition Robins featurrd leather trim, walnut interior, and a numbered plaque and sold for approximately £10,000. The Reliant Fox is a small four wheeled Glass Fibre utility vehicle. It used 850cc Aluminium Engine and was technically based on the Reliant Kitten with which it shares its Chassis, Engine and running gear (with some modifications).
Reliant's first
Scimitar was a coupé based upon the styling of a Daimler SP250 prototype (renamed the SX250) and the chassis of a
Reliant Sabre. It was powered by a 2.6L Ford straight six from the Zephyr/Zodiac.
Aiming to fill a gap in the small sports car market, the Michelotti-designed
Reliant SS1 was launched. The chassis was inspired by the Lotus Elan. 1300 (Later replaced by the 1400 CVH engine) and 1600 cc Ford engines were used, and later the Nissan 1800 cc Turbo engine.
The
Reliant Rialto was a small subcompact car, manufactured by Reliant Motor Company, that replaced the Reliant Robin in 1981. It was produced until 1998, and had a poor reputation as a car. Nevertheless it still sparked passion from Reliant enthusiasts.
