You would expect the MG FT's brother to be faster, more rugged and undeniably more handsome and so it is - the MG GT concept. The company’s design team has taken the hugely popular TF and turned it into a modern day expression of the beloved MGB GT from the trendy 1960s. That car was treated to some more powerful engines in the shape of the 3-litre straight six (MG C) and 3.5-litre V8 (MGB GT V8) and so the engineers have developed this latest concept around the 2.5-litre KV6 engine. Raising power to 200bhp, performance is predicted to give the GT sub six second zero to 60mph acceleration and a top speed of 145mph. The increase in speed is aided by the reduced drag GT style, cutting the aerodynamic drag coefficient from 0.35 to 0.31. Features of interest specified on the MG GT concept include 17” Gunsmoke five-spoke OZ alloy wheels, similar in design to the MG XPower SV. An extended front aero splitter is balanced by a longer tail-spoiler integrated into the bootlid design, generating reduced lift at speed.
The Montego offered many improvements over the Maestro, many of which were later incorporated into the Maestro, such as a new SOHC engine (the S-Series), and a more robust dashboard. As with the Maestro, there was a high-performance MG version which again used the solid-state instrument cluster, trip computer, and the synthesised voice of Nicolette MacKenzie for the information and warning system. The dashboard fitted to the Montego was superior to that originally designed for the Maestro and featured a rally-style tachometer, a service indicator and a representation of the car showing open doors, lights left on, etc.
The MG ZR is a compact automobile first introduced in 2001 by the MG Rover Group. It is specifically a hot hatch, a badge-engineered Rover 75, with a number of useful suspension modifications and design features to appeal to younger drivers. All ZRs came with a choice of bright metallic shades and can even be factory specified with "flip" paint, which changes colour depending on the direction from which it is viewed. They feature multiple spoke oversize alloy wheels on low profile tyres, a body kit, race-style spoiler and chrome exhaust garnishes as well as side skirts, all as standard. MG ZRs can be specified in a variety of formats, from a 1.4 L economical engine, to a 1.8 L. This provides a range of performance options between 105 bhp (75 kW) and 160 bhp (114 kW). Other tweaks to the range include the MG ZR Trophy featuring a sunroof, 16 inch 'Grid-spoke' alloys, new rear light clusters, leather steering wheel and side sill and rear bumper extensions.
